About ASKA

Ashdown Sport Karate Academy is a new children's karate club launching in East Grinstead at the Jubilee Community Centre in January 2027

Our aim is to create a fun, supportive environment where children can build confidence, fitness and strong karate fundamentals. For those who want to take their training further, ASKA will also offer a genuine pathway into sport karate competitions.

Competition is optional - every student is welcome.

Classes & Pricing

Classes are designed for children of all abilities, from complete beginners through to those who want to develop towards competition.

Classes are £10 per class, with no long-term commitment required. There is also an opportunity to buy class packs, with a pack of 5 classes costing £45, and a pack of 10 costing £85.

New students can attend their first session free, giving them a chance to try the class, meet the coach and see if they enjoy it before paying.

As the club grows, additional classes and training will be introduced.

Sport Karate Pathway

Our classes are built around strong karate fundamentals, fitness, discipline and technical development.

For students who want to compete, we offer a clear optional competition pathway, with additional focus on the skills and experience needed for sport karate competition.

There is no pressure to compete. Every student can progress at their own pace, whether their goal is to build confidence, get fitter, learn karate or work towards regional and national competitions.

Sensei Joseph

Founder & Head Coach

I've trained and competed in karate for many years and have coached children and adults of all abilities.

I'm starting Ashdown Sport Karate Academy because I love coaching, and want to create a club where children can enjoy learning karate, build confidence and fitness, and develop strong technical foundations.

I know first hand how rewarding karate can be, both as a sport and as a way to build discipline, confidence and friendships, and I want as many children as possible to have that experience.
